MAG 1 Premium DOT3 Brake Fluid

Is it OK to use DOT 3 brake fluid?

Mixing DOT 3 and DOT 4 brake fluid won’t cause a problem if you usually use DOT 3. However, if DOT 4 is recommended for your vehicle, you would be lowering the boiling point, and there’s a chance the performance could suffer as a result.

Is the dot 3 DOT 4 DOT 5 synthetic?

All DOT 3, 4 & 5.1 are all synthitic. DOT 5 is silicone. Brake fluids all the way back as-far-as I can remember, are synthetic. I have noticed in the past 10 years that some bottles/brands of brake fluid mention in large letters, "SYNTHETIC" as though this is something new or better. It’s marketing only!

What’s the boiling point of DOT 4 brake fluid?

DOT 4’s minimum boiling point is 450F in dry conditions and 311F in wet conditions. DOT 3, on the other hand, has a minimum boiling point of 400F in dry conditions and 284F in wet conditions.

What kind of brake fluid do you use?

Thanks to the glycol (alcohol) component, this fluid is hygroscopic, and it absorbs all moisture from the brake fluid. DOT 3 is also the most common brake fluid used in domestic, as well as the Asian vehicles. But, not all Asian or European cars use DOT 3 brake fluid, and a good number actually use DOT 4 brake fluid.

CHECK LATEST PRICE

MAG 1 are quite well regarded as a lubricants manufacturer, and this product, whilst being extremely basic, is still a decent choice if you need the bells and whistles of higher priced, premium products.

With a rating to DOT3, it has a lower boiling point than many of the fluids on this list. At 32 ounces, however, it also has the best price tag on the list! So if you’re looking for a product that will just quietly do its job without brakeing the bank, this could be the one for you.

You won’t get high performance, and you absolutely must not use this in your system if the vehicle manufacturer specifies that DOT4 must be employed. But for a smaller, lower performance vehicle this is a great fluid with a good price tag.
