What kind of board do you use for mancala?

This particular set is very nice, solid wood board, pits are deep enough to hold lots of stones, stones are glass and heavy enough to make that satisfying clunk down into the pits. The board has a felt backing and it also comes with a little pouch to keep the stones in, which I thought were nice touches.

How do you glue wood mancala board together?

Brush wood glue to the bottom side of the top board, place it on the bottom board, align the edges, and clamp the pieces together. This process is called "lamination". Once the glue is dried, the two pieces will be completely fused together, almost like they are one.

How many stones do you need to play mancala?

The same is for your opponent; their side is the six holes closest to them and their mancala is to their right. To set up, place four "stones" in each hole, excluding the mancalas. This should total 48 stones. (A stone can be anything small; pennies, marbles, in my case some glass counters that came with the set).

Rumor has it that Mancala has been keeping people entertained for thousands of years, starting with the Egyptians. And although playing this game in the confines of a train carriage may not be as appealing as in front of the pyramids, the modern folding version of Mancala makes it a lot easier to cart the gemstones around.

Known as one of the world’s top two-player games, Mancala is simple enough to play with children aged six and above. Not only will your child have loads of fun, their STEM and STEAM skills will be reinforced through strategizing. It’s truly a *gem* of a game.
