What kind of amplifiers does JL Audio use?

Beginning with the original ‘Slash’ subwoofer amplifiers, JL Audio has been at the forefront of Class D amplifier design. Our NexD™ switching technology stems from our Class D expertise to deliver outstanding fidelity and efficiency, leading to compact amplifiers that deliver high power and exceptional value. Let’s get a little nerdy…

What do I need to know about the JL Audio jd1000 / 1?

Automatic turn-on capability (via signal sensing or DC-offset sensing) is standard, along with a set of preamp outputs so you can easily pass signals to another amplifier. The JD1000/1 is also equipped with an onboard LED-clipping indicator ring, surrounding the input sensitivity control.

Is there an optional JL Audio HD stack kit?

Optional HD Stack Kit: Permits stacking of one HD amp to another HD amp (sold separately). JL Audio’s Differential-Balanced Inputs are engineered to combat induced cable noise, which is a common problem in car and marine audio installations.

What does r.i.p.s.stand for in JL Audio?

R.I.P.S. stands for "Regulated, Intelligent Power Supply" and is a central feature of JL Audio’s ‘Slash’ and HD amplifiers. "Regulated" means that the power supply adjusts its operation so as to maintain the amplifier’s rated power output and low distortion operation over a wide range of vehicle voltages (11V-14.5 V).

Another popular product, this amp is slim and petite, which means that it fits nicely into a wide variety of small areas. But don’t be fooled into thinking that it is not a powerful amp. Many people have raved about how well it enhances the sound in their vehicle.

Also, people have talked about how easy the amp is to install in their car, which is a nice feature if you are not all that technically-minded. One of the features is a variable bass boost, so you can set it according to your preferences.
