Is the boss Audio Kit a good buy?

PIECE OF JUNK!! I purchased this BOSS Audio Kit to install with a brand new stereo. After hours of installing all brand new speakers, stereo, amp, sub woofer and wires, it functioned for a few minutes then shorted out. I thought the stereo was defective and returned it.

Is the gauge true on the boss Kit?
